The importance of convergence to the film industry.

Convergence is important within the film industry because it is an easier way of promoting the film to a wider audience. It helps make the film well known and rapidly advertises it to a large consumer number.
Converging different types of media with a film helps promote the film and presents new oppurtunitues to different types of people, e.g if a film is converged with a computer game, people who are more likely to play computer games are presented with the oppurtunity to view the film but also play a game associated with the film, this is also more convient for the audience member.
Also by using convergence alongside their film it gives the producers a chance to enhance the growth of their film, and use it as a base point to build upon to make a name for themselves. A main factor that is considered when using convergence is that it makes a significant boost to sales figures but really pushes the film to the audience.
